What damage does Crosscountry running have on 13 year old girls?
I am looking to see if it is healthy to put a 13 year old girl through all the training of Cross Country. What are the side effects? ANd what damage does it to your body short term and long term?

There is no greater danger to a 13 year old girl in cross country than any other sport, and less for most other sports.

She should enjoy what she is doing, the most important thing for school age athletes is that they learn team work, have a physical training program that will help them become better more rounded individuals.

The best thing that can happen especially for girls is they learn they are capable of doing things they did not think they could do.

Okay, so I’m pretty good looking, I’m pretty social, I’m pretty confident, I’m pretty charming, but I can never bring myself to make a move-go in for a kiss. Once I determine a girl likes me-which takes way more convincing than it should, I can never bring myself to make a move. Did the slave revolt of Spartacus, as portrayed in the movie, succeed or fail?

I’m not looking for a direct answer but ideas would be helpful for both points.

After the revolt there was still slavery and conditions did not change for anyone in slavery so it had little effect there, neither was there any fundamental change to Roman society. If anything it probably entrenched power in the hands of the army and State. Crassus went on to join the Triumvirate - with Pompey and Julius Caesar and after that commanded a Roman army on a campaign in Parthia (more or less modern Iraq) so his reputation at that time was high and no doubt bolstered by the ccampaign against Spartacus. The Parthia campaign though was a disaster leading to the death of Crassus and many of his men.

If the revolt can be said to have been a success it was the two years that Spartacus spent on the run and the defeats he handed out to some well regarded Roman generals. After their defeats Rome took the revolt a little more seriously and the tactics of Crassus were especially brutal - practising decimation on any of his men who withdrew in battle as well as on the slaves.

Prejudice against Frankie’s Northern Irish father makes his search for employment in the Republic difficult despite his having fought for the IRA, and when he does find money, he spends the money on drink.

Dodge City (1939)
