Help! How would you describe the grievances in the declaration of independence?
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

i think thats a couple of them. please help. :]

The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. Which guy I should pick?
Something weird just happened to me in one week. 2 guys like me at the same time. I met them at school at the beginning of this semester. I just saw him twice though, first time was the first time I met him, the second time was last night. Jacob asked me to go to a school vollyball game with him last night and I went with him. He walked me home and to the game. It was so sweet of him. He texted me and facebooked me every day until last night. He didn’t call or text or facebook me at all today. What does it mean? I hope I didn’t say anything wrong.

What does it mean when a guy does that to u?

Another guy, David likes me too. I didn’t know until a few days ago. We were talking on facebook chat and he told me which fraternity he was gonna rush and the next day was bid day. And he said he didn’t want anyone to know before bid day so he asked me to not to tell anyone and said I was the only one who knew about it. We talked for 30 more mins. At the end of our convo, he said his alarm clock didn’t wake him so he asked "so ru gonna wake me up tomorrow morning?" I didn’t know what to say first. Then I said "If u want me to" He said "it would be awesome."

So I called him in the morning the next day, I hesitated to call him becuz I was too shy but I did call him. In order to break the awkwardness, I said " Wake up, loser!" when he picked up the phone. He was just laughing and smiling (I could feel it). So what does it mean??

I am not the kind of girls many guys chase. I”ve never had a boyfriend. So I don’t understand guys.

So do you think both of them like me?? or I just think too much. If it were u, which one would u like more?

Jacob seems more sweet and gentlemen, well I went out with him once so I noticed that. But David, I’ve never gone out with him before. So I can’t tell. But I believe he is a good guy and he is cute.

did you know that everton fans are bitter and twisted?
Recently at a family wedding… the dj played Youll Never Walk Alone and all the blues in the family got up and left… sad basterds

Considering that you have recently found religion I find your question somewhat strange … or is it. Are you a reds (Liverpool) fan by any chance?

i fink your bitter and twisted, then again, so would i be if i was a liverpool fan
Bf8778 | Dec 29, 2009

You have to realise religion is not discussed in public ! In the city you are either a Livipudlian or Evertonian (unless you come from across the Mersey, then you are Tranmere).
As Bill Shankly said (something like) "football is not about life and death,it is much more serious than that !".
Prof | Dec 29, 2009

that is funny… Classic! hahaha…. so if everton fans are bitter and twisted that must mean liverpool fans are stupid and delusional ayt?? coz liverpool havent won shite in 4 years, never win the premier league in 21 years… have a fat greasy manager in rafa benitez, and a bunch of spoiled un-grateful over paid players. Gerrard will leave to inter milan or real madrid next year if liverpool continue their epic fail, as well as torres will become another rentboy at chelsea.

as a liverpool support, if any stick is given to gerrard for leaving, if he does next season, then shame to all liverpool supporters, the lad wasted his career at a club he one next to nothin with, and deserves better then that. torres is a quality player and has won shite with liverpool since he came, a player of his skill deserves to be at a more stable "winning mentality" club

I usually hit the DJ and smash a few glasses and tables about if they dare play the Devils Anthem at any of our family parties.
To be fair though we do tell them at the start of the night.

they do that.

One of the funniest I ever saw was the whole of the Echo arena singing You’ll Never Walk Alone at the number 1s concert and a few bitter blues refusing to join in. Probably made it worse that the arena would have been their stadium had they got their act together

Making a move, who will give me some courage?
Okay, so I’m pretty good looking, I’m pretty social, I’m pretty confident, I’m pretty charming, but I can never bring myself to make a move-go in for a kiss. Once I determine a girl likes me-which takes way more convincing than it should, I can never bring myself to make a move. I’m not going to go into detail about my past and why this is and any of that crap, but in my mind, trying to kiss a girl (even one who likes you, and wants you to) is like rape, it’s completely wrong and I’ll just wind up being crushed. So please, can someone give me some words of encouragement-just give me something to boost my confidence, so I can finally just make a move? Please?

Well…I was raped and kissing someone is NOT rape…trust me. I’m not sure what has happened to you in the past but don’t worry about it. If you think its the right time and place and the right stage in a relationship than you should have no problem. When a guy kisses me I don’t consider it rape because of what I have been through. If you watch porn there’s rape porno out there and if you ever watch that..(I havent…I have 3 brothers…I learn things, and they said that you figure out what is and isnt over the line.) So from that just tell yourself that you can do it and remind yourself right before you make a move that as l0ong as you like eachother its going to be fine.

Did the slave revolt of Spartacus, as portrayed in the movie, succeed or fail?
Did the slave revolt of Spartacus, as portrayed in the movie, succeed or fail? Support your answer with reference to specific incidents and issues raised in the movie.

I’m not looking for a direct answer but ideas would be helpful for both points.

Ultimately a failure, Spartacus and much of his army after initial successes were killed and those who were captured were supposedly marched up the Appian Way. Every mile or so a small group was detached off the back and they were crucified once the main bulk of the prisoners had marched on. I think in the film Spartacus/Kirk Douglas gets crucified last, but his body was never found and it’s generally assumed that he was killed in the final battles with Crassus’ legions in Sicily.

After the revolt there was still slavery and conditions did not change for anyone in slavery so it had little effect there, neither was there any fundamental change to Roman society. If anything it probably entrenched power in the hands of the army and State. Crassus went on to join the Triumvirate - with Pompey and Julius Caesar and after that commanded a Roman army on a campaign in Parthia (more or less modern Iraq) so his reputation at that time was high and no doubt bolstered by the ccampaign against Spartacus. The Parthia campaign though was a disaster leading to the death of Crassus and many of his men.

If the revolt can be said to have been a success it was the two years that Spartacus spent on the run and the defeats he handed out to some well regarded Roman generals. After their defeats Rome took the revolt a little more seriously and the tactics of Crassus were especially brutal - practising decimation on any of his men who withdrew in battle as well as on the slaves.

| Jan 31, 2010

The movie is essentially right in that the revolt ultimately failed. Crassus and Pompey crushed the army of Spartacus and thereafter crucified 6, 000 slaves along the Appian way. The movie did not correctly portray the fate of Spartacus himself however. He wasn’t crucified but died in battle. I guess the producers wanted people to think of him as a kind of jesus, lol.

I’m a big fan, so I’m going to say that Roger Federer will sin them ALL, at least I’m confident he will make the three finals. Wimbledon is definetely his, Roland Garros is going to be tough if Nadal recovers from his kneew.

can anyone give me some information on these songs?
okay ive chosen some songs for my music performing exam, but my teacher needs me to find out a few things about them.

he needs to know;

what the octave range is. how difficult the song is to sing. if its upto higher standard(like hard exam). and just any information about the songs.

the songs are;

Christina Aguilera - Fighter
Pussycat Dolls - Jai Ho!
Aretha Franklyn - RESPECT
Janis Joplin - Piece of My Heart.

The information is mostly for me as i dont have a clue what he talks about so any help would be great!

R-E-S-P-E-C-T was written by Otis Redding. Aretha, who refused (and still refuses) to do songs with lyrics in any way suggesting women are weak, adored it. She and her back up singers, however, added the "sock it to me sock it to me" backup vocal lyrics because she wanted people to know that strong women in no way were asexual.
